Meet Scott LaPointe

Maintenance Director, Salem, NH

What is your role at BRIGS, and what does your day-to-day look like?

I oversee a great team of maintenance techs taking care of our NH properties. My day usually starts with getting the techs setup for their day, making sure they have what they need and know where they are going. I typically take an hour or two to go over scheduling, answer any phone messages, and reply to emails. From there, it's off to different sights to assess upcoming work and to provide estimates as needed. In between all of that, I tend to put out a lot of fires and answer a million questions.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

I love when a tenant leaves the interaction feeling satisfied and grateful, especially if they came in with a concern or frustration. Ultimately, it’s the combination of creating happy tenants and the sense of accomplishment that comes with achieving success at work.

What’s something you find challenging about your work?

Having to adjust the schedule on the fly is always a challenge, but the number one challenge I have is finding help.

What are some hobbies you enjoy?

My biggest passion is motorcycles, but some other hobbies I enjoy are skiing, boating, kayaking, scuba diving, and white water rafting. I have always been an adrenaline junkie.

Tell us about your ideal weekend plan.

Getting on the bike, hitting the back roads with no destination, and just enjoying the adventure.

What is your favorite movie?

I don't spend a lot of time watching movies or TV…but give me a good, suspenseful movie like Identity and you'll get my attention for a few.

Coffee or tea?

Coffee

Do you have any summer travel plans?

I put together a five day motorcycle road trip through Vermont called the Covered Bridge Run, and later this summer I will spend some time in Belfast, Maine. Other than that—a low key summer.

Any favorite summer memories?

Too many to narrow it down to just one! I have always looked at life as there are no do overs and you have one shot at it, so live it to the fullest, make everyday count, and make as many memories as you can.

What's your favorite summer treat?

Ice cream for sure…I'm usually the one planning the bike route, and each one involves an ice cream stop at some point.
